SWAMP-HOUND - noun
swamp: A tract of wet, spongy land, often having a growth of certain types of trees and other vegetation, but unfit for cultivation.
To sink or be stuck in a swamp or something likened to a swamp.
hound: One of any of several breeds of dogs trained to pursue game either by sight or by scent, esp. one with a long face and large
drooping ears.

into water over her head and made this splash, then came up swimming.
