Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Anna--Gone to the Bridge June, 2008

Goodbye sweet Anna. We loved you and tried to help you the best that we knew how to do while you were here, and we will never forget you. We will watch for you at the Bridge. Go in peace.

Triko--Gone to the Bridge November, 2005

Triko was our first beagle. Several years ago, new neighbors moved into our neighborhood, Triko was left free to roam the neighborhood. It took us months before this little girl would come close enough for us to pet her. Her demeanor led us to believe that she had been mistreated, when you would get close to her she would flinch and hit the ground as if to protect herself from injury. After several months of treats and kind words, we broke through her barriers and in her mind she was OUR DOG. From then on, Triko would wait on our porch for us to come home from work, sneak in our back door and come over for breakfast every morning. It took her people several more months to finally agree to let us officially have her. However, she was really ours in our hearts long before they gave permission. Triko lived with us for several years before becoming very ill with Cushings disease. She was loved and we miss her dearly.

Misha (top photo), and Ian--Gone to the bridge March and June, 2004

Ian and Misha were our first Borzoi. We fell in love with Borzoi many years ago, and purchased both brothers from an ad in the Seattle Times. Ian developed arthritis at the end of his life and with very heavy hearts we let him go to the bridge with assistance from our vet. Misha developed PRA and was totally blind by the age of 5, and depended heavily on his brother thereafter. When Ian left us, Misha's heart was broken and he died in his sleep within 3 months fo Ian's passing. Littermates, they were the best of friends and remained so until they passed away at 12 years of age. These photos were taken when they were 10 months of age.

We lost both Ian in March, and Misha in June of 2004.
