Rowan came to us in June, 2006 at 11 months of age, from Greg and Lexy Hancock of Tovaritch Kennel in Alberta, Canada. Visit Tovaritch on the web at www.TovaritchKennel.com. Rowan is "Daddy's Girl". She is a classic redhead in the sense that it's often her way or the highway, and oh boy does she have a stubborn streak! After a good day at work with Rich which often includes a long walk or trip to the off leash dog park (check out our swamphounds page), she will refuse to get out of our SUV once we get home. She's been known to stay out there for hours even though we check every half hour to ask if she wants to come inside. Rowan is also extremely intelligent - when we take her for walks/runs on leash, she knows the half-way point when we turn around to return home, and will suddenly be very tired and won't walk. It's all an act, however, because when you turn around to continue AWAY from home suddenly she's at the end of the leash again. It looks pretty funny all the way home to see the Borzoi taking the person for a walk (person leading, borzoi following at the end of a tight leash). In spite of her stubborn streak she is a very sweet girl and we love her dearly. We remind ourselves often how fortunate we are that Greg and Lexy let this amazing dog come to live with us.
